Chairman’s Message
Welcome to our website! I hope you take the time to look around and familiarise yourself with our great Club.
Round Towers are one of the biggest clubs in London and as well as underage football consist of 3 adult mens teams, we are made up of a successful Senior team, a Reserve team and have also a formidable all British born Junior team who compete for the McArdle Cup.
Every one of the McArdle cup team are products of our underage system here in South London and a testament to my predecessors and past Round Towers stalwarts, men with great vision who created the minor club in the mid-eighties. Over the last 2 years 52 different British born players have togged out for the team, reaching the final in the competitions inaugural year in 2007, the semi final last year and the final again in 2009.
Our Minor Club is a shining light and no other club in London can boast greater devotion to the cause of sustaining the GAA's popularity and playing base among young people born in London.
For the dedicated and serious player we have a talented Senior team, we have been on the up for a number of years now reaching the last 2 county semi-finals, we are very lucky in that we have a very low squad turnover compared to other clubs in London given the transient nature of the city, and this year being no exception we have recruited well and aim to cement our position as the top team in London by winning the League and Championship double in 2009.
We also have a fine reserve team for all standards of player, we won the league final last year in a nail biting final and intend to keep the trophy in Ganleys cabinet in 2009 also.
Round Towers have been on the go since 1932 but all the committee and people involved have never forgotten that we are also a community club. We strive to be successful on the field of play whilst providing Gaels emigrating from Ireland and those born in London with a sense of community and support.
If you are living South of the River, and want to join a successful, vibrant, ambitious team, do not hesitate to make contact with myself or any of the clubs members, it's a decision you won't regret.
